The Darts Open comes to town

Rising star - Zoe Jones, 16, will visit Gainsborough this weekend to show off her skills
THE Lincolnshire Darts Open Singles comes to Gainsborough for the first time on Easter Sunday at the State Club, Church Street.Players must register to play at 10.30 and toe the oche at 11.30.am.
The men's singles carries a heafty £1,301 first prize, while the ladies singles has been sponsored by local business The White Hart Hotel with owner Mrs Maggie Lamport who has given the first prize of £301.
There are also prizes also down to last eight in women's and last 16 in the men's.
The Lincolnshire Darts Association has overwhelmed with the response to the tournament and there has been no alternative but to close the entries at 300 in the men's and 64 in the ladies.
Commercial manager of Lincs Darts Mr Derek Jacklin stated that there are a host of stars entered for this contest and that there has never been such a response to this tournament with previous winners such as the likes of Yorkshire's Dennis Preistley entering.
Since coming on board with Lincs Darts in a managerial capacity, Derek and his wife Paula have worked with a professional commitee of people who are dedicated to this sport and who work extremely hard behind the scenes and they would like to thank them all for their efforts.
Around 600 people are expected at the Church Street venue this weekend and Mr and Mrs Jacklin are grateful for the input by Mr Swann for sponsoring the county team, for Mrs Maggie Lamport for sponsoring the ladies singles tournament and giving hotel discounts for all the visiting counties when they come to Gainsborough to play in the tournaments.
AN up-and-coming young darts player will also be visiting Gainsborough this weekend.
Zoe Jones (16), from Redditch, is the country's top youth player and is also in the top 32 ladies in the world. She has also played at international level for England.
Zoe will be playing exhibition matches at the Liberal Club on Ropery Road on Saturday 11th April between noon and 5pm. Admission will be £2.
She is also due to take part in the ladies singles at the State Club on Sunday.
